Raining season in Ghana has a significant effect on all sectors life. Agriculture sector is highly expectant of the raining season to produce sufficient foods which is the most economic driven sector in Ghana.
On the other hand, the raining season is a danger to livelihood especially those in the capital of Ghana, Accra.
It is recorded that in the months of June – July where rain falls heavily in Ghana, flooding had always been the major challenge in Accra and other commercial areas in Ghana.
This usually happens as a result of bad drainage system and poor waste management which get almost all gutters chocked when it rains.
Today 18th May 2025 has been another disastrous day in Accra as flood has taken about 70% of Accra. At the same time causing road accident on most highways.
These are the major flooded areas in Accra after 6 hours nonstop raining today, Accra Central, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Madina main station, Ashiaman main station, Abeka Lapaz, Kwabenya Market, Kasoa Market Center, Awoshie Baah Yard, Amasaman new road and other areas we couldn’t record.
This is a proof that Ghana has a long way to go in developing our drainage systems, proper construction on some major roads and enhancement on waste management campaign.
This must be a caution and wake-up call to all well wishing Ghanaians to develop a patriotism spirit and help combat this self-generated disaster.
