After the passing of the Pope Francis of the Catholic Church there has been some contemplation in the media space as who will be his successor.
Most answers were gearing to have the first black Pope and this is because of some symbols like the black smoke that was seen coming from the Vatican during the burial of the late Pope Francis.
Today 8th May 2025, a new Pope from the United States of America Cardinal Robert Prevost has been elected as Pope Leo XIV. Pope Leo XIV is the first American Pope for the Catholic church.
Pope Leo XIV is an American Catholic prelate who has served as the prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America since 2023. He was born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, and was made a cardinal in 2023. On September 30, 2023, Pope Francis appointed him as Cardinal-Deacon of Santa Monica, and on February 6, 2025, he was promoted to Cardinal-Bishop of Albano.
